Installation view of “Oliver Lee Jackson: Vibrato”
On View presents images from noteworthy exhibitions
A SURVEY OF WORKS by Oliver Lee Jackson (born 1935) is on view at Rena Bransten Gallery. “Vibrato” features mixed-media paintings, prints, and sculpture dating from the 1980s and 2009 to 2021. Infused with spirit and emotion, Jackson’s powerful abstract pictures are worlds unto themselves. Color functions as form. Improvisation and experimentation channel the artist’s deep connections to jazz. The gallery show is part of a chorus of presentations currently showcasing the artist’s work. “Oliver Lee Jackson: Any Eyes” at the di Rose Center for Contemporary Art in Napa, Calif., and “Oliver Lee Jackson” at the Saint Louis Art Museum in Saint Louis, Mo., are both on view through Feb. 20, 2022. Born in Saint Louis, Mo., Jackson has lived in Oakland, Calif., for more than 40 years. CT
“Oliver Lee Jackson: Vibrato” is on view at Rena Bransten Gallery, San Francisco, Calif., from Oct. 2-Nov. 27, 2021
